Strong as a Donkey
"He’s as strong as an ox!”
The lifting of weights is commonplace today. I wonder what forms of muscle building forefathers participated in.
I know stamina, agility and endurance are benefits of varied forms of exercise. Samson quickly comes to the forefront when I consider his amazing strength. He wielded the jawbone of a donkey with dexterity. (Judges 15:16)
The strength of a less heralded Bible character is comparable to a donkey. “Issachar is a strong-boned donkey crouching down between the sheepfolds. And he saw that rest was good and that the land was pleasant; and he bowed his shoulder to bear [his burdens] and became a servant to tribute [subjected to force labor] (Genesis 49:14-15 Amplified).”
Will I bear the burdens of others, stumbling under the weight of cares? “Bear (endure, carry) one another’s burdens and troublesome moral faults, and in this way fulfill and observe perfectly the law of Christ (the Messiah) and complete what is lacking [in your obedience to it] (Galatians 6:2 Amplified).”
